Molementum UI

Molementum was a game project I worked on with a large team of 18 in my Game Studio III class at Champlain College. More on my level design work for the project can be found
The main gameplay of Molementum had players running around in a map, collecting gems and completing objectives on a timer. With that in mind having quick and easy to recognize icons was a very important aspect to the game, as they would allow players to not only see and recognize each other at a glance but player score as well.
All of my designs below were created in Adobe Illustrator
Player Icons
For the player icons I started out with a basic mole icon created by another team member with the goal of creating variations of each of the four player characters.
Those final icons came out as seen above. I chose background colors that allowed each mole to stand out while not color coding them to distinct colors such as red or blue.
Objective Icons
There are many objectives within the game for players to complete and with that each needed an icon. To create them I pulled the most distinct visual feature of each one from the game and designed simplistic visuals from them.
Gems
Based on the gems players can find throughout the map each round.
I'm On TV
Based on the camera drone players have to stay under to earn points.
Assassin
A threatening mole shadow to accompany the goal of finding and stunning a specific targeted player.
Soda cans
Based on the Soda cans players needed to find and collect for points.
Hackathon
Based on the phone players need to find and hold onto during the round.
Stun
A goal to stun the most players, based on the stars that circle players heads when they are stunned.
